From the Principal

Our term 1 value is:

Dear parents

Thank you for your support this term.  The more we work together, the better it will be for every aspect of your children’s development.  We really appreciate you keeping in touch with us.

Behaviour Management Policy

Our school has a very robust behaviour management plan and policy which we enforce rigorously.  You may be aware of meetings held recently in Wellington to discuss bullying in NZ schools.  I can assure you that we have a zero tolerance policy where any form of bullying is concerned.   We have a very prescribed student code of conduct which all students are expected to follow.  We run a consequence programme where students are placed on “restricted” during both break times for breaking our student code of conduct.  We call the parent/caregiver of each child placed on “restricted”.

Our behaviour management policy is currently under review and we will let you know when the draft is available at the school office for your comment, if you would like to participate in our review.  Your input would be welcome.  We are intending to make some minor changes in order to strengthen further our procedures.

School orchestra

Our orchestra is going really well.  Already they can perform a very fine rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”!  They are so impressive after such a short time.  Please feel free to ask Raewyn in the office for information about music lessons in school time, starting next term.  We are very keen to offer musical opportunities for our students.

PTA Sausage Sizzle

Our superb PTA will be sizzling (chicken) sausages for the children’s lunches next Tuesday, March 24.   We hope that you will support this fund raiser.  The profits will go towards our new fitness trail.  Thank you in advance!

Term One Community Meetings

You are all welcome to come along to the following meetings where we will be talking with you about language learning.  Your views will be welcome and acknowledged.

•    Maori Whanau Group: 8.15 - 9.00am,  Friday 3 April  in Pelu’s office
•    School Community Group: 2.00-3.00pm, Wednesday 1 April in the Oval Room

All the very best for the best of weekends.  Many of us at school thoroughly enjoyed the cricket, rugby and league last weekend.  Go the Warriors again – (such a good win last weekend…)  Whatever your choice of relaxation, I hope that you can all enjoy some special time with your special children.

Kind regards
Marilyn Gwilliam
