From the Principal

Term 3 value: Determination
Determination is all about working really hard to achieve a goal no matter how difficult or hard it seems to be.

Dear parents

As this is the last newsletter of the term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and to wish you all the best for the school holidays.  The children have worked hard and we are hoping that they will come back to school after the break refreshed and ready for lots more hard work during the last term.

PTA:
Thank you to the PTA for organising the disco evening last Friday.  We really appreciate your willingness to give up your time on a Friday evening to raise funds for our school.  You are all stars!  It was great to see the children having a superb time, as usual.  Well done to the parents who showed us all how to dance, as well!

Congratulations to Paige Schendelaar-Kemp and Sohan Karangalpady
We are very proud of  Paige and Sohan.  Last week Paige was named the Papatoetoe Under 12 Junior Sportsperson of the Year.  Paige is a top New Zealand swimmer and we look forward to her future successes.  Warmest wishes and congratulations from us all, Paige.  We are all so very proud of you.

We are also proud of Sohan who received the player of the year for his age group at the Papatoetoe soccer club. Well done, Sohan. Warmest wishes and congratulations from us all.

Advance Notice:
The Ministry of Education has approved a teacher only day for us on Friday 23 October, so please make alternative arrangements for your children on that day. The 23rd is the Friday before the Labour Weekend holiday.  We will be holding our  staff conference on that day, to do some more work on the new curriculum and to prepare for 2010.

Congratulations to Linda Jefferies:
Our most sincere congratulations go to associate principal Linda Jefferies who has been appointed to the principal’s position at Normanby Primary School near Hawera in Taranaki. We are delighted for Linda as she moves south to take up her first principal’s position.  Linda leaves us at the end of the year after 13 years of dedicated service to our school and we wish her all the very best for the future.  Well done, Linda!  Warmest wishes and congratulations from us all.

All the best for a wonderful weekend and for the holidays.  We will look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 12 October.

Kind regards
Marilyn Gwilliam
Principal

REUSABLE containers                        NO plastic wrap, foil or Styrofoam
